We’re using a drone to build a pond. (Really.)

Drone Mapping Technology

Through the use of drones, GPS, and our analytics software, the drone experts at SV Aerial & Consulting were able to collect more precise measurements to streamline this topographic project.

IMPROVING LAND THROUGH DRONE MAPPING

One of the ways property owners improve their land is by building a pond, but without proper planning, a pond could create real headaches.

If you’ve ever built a pond you know that it takes a lot of effort to move all that dirt. And while dump trucks, backhoes, and bulldozers are crucial earth-moving pieces of equipment for building your pond, a drone can be the most important tool you use.

In the video below, we used a drone, GPS, and our analytics software to fly-through a pond being considered for this property.

R4S UNI GNS SYSTEM

To ensure accurate data, we used an R4S Uni GNS System to collect more precise measurements on our drone flights.

Through this analysis, we can create a topographic mosaic of the land, measured in any increment.

Digital Terrain Model

We also created a digital terrain (DTM) topographic map of where the pond may go.

From this fly-through, we can calculate the amount of dirt needed to build a dam. We can also visualize the waterline would be for when the pond is completely full. This is one way our drones can help you make improvements to your property.
